I have to admit that, out of all philosophical branches, aesthetics is the one I'm least familiar with. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kant's defense of formalism in his Critique of Judgment and other classic texts, but when it comes to modern art, I'm a complete ignoramus. I'm one of those people stuck between wanting to admire certain works of art and wondering whether they were produced by a five-year-old (or even by
a chimp or an elephant).
