Full disclosure part 1: I was predisposed to be offended by the video, based on your post.
Full disclosure part II: I assume, perhaps erroneously, but I haven't looked into it, that you're white. My guess: under 40 (I could go look this shit up, but it's more fun this way, don't you think?) And perhaps a tad nerdy.
Making fun? Dude! Makes me think I should edit the above to say under 50. Or 60 :)
Ever heard of John Coulton? Think about the SNL Narnia skit, mac/pc commercial parodies, mastercard/priceless ripoffs... they're more homage (with an appropriate bit of self deprecation thrown in) than ridicule.
I figured some people would probably be predisposed to be offended given the racial background the introduction implied... so don't worry about it.
I am under 40, as you correctly guessed, but not white, and not nerdy (or so I'd like to think, ha ha).
I agree with you that there is some level of homage being paid by Weird Al, but I also thought that, if you read between the lines, there is a bit of mockery. It's not in the lyrics but in what's being done. In any case, I thought it was pretty funny, and I'm glad you stopped by to visit. Bye!
