Guess Who I Met Tonight?

Yes, Santa Claus... err.... philosopher Dan Dennett, and

Harvard evolutionary biologist Marc Hauser, author of Moral Minds: How Nature Designed Our Universal Sense of Right and Wrong.

Dennett and Hauser spoke, along with Antonio Damasio and Patricia Churchland, at the Science of Morality conference, part of the World Science Fair.

These two big guns of the academic world were also gracious enough to sign my copies of their books, so add those to the growing pile :)

I spoke with Hauser for a while after the forum, and he is one smart, well educated and generous thinker, making the time to delve into fascinating scientific and philosophical topics with little ol' me.

Yes, and I know... I look retarded next to Dennett...

  2. How about I return your book to you and trade you "A" fair grade in exchange for a first-rate philosophy term paper, plus whatever other work you still owe me? :)

Actually, I was going to have Patricia Churchland (or her husband, if he were around), sign your book for you, but I forgot it in the back seat of my car... too bad...
