No Child Left Healthy

Sometimes I think this is all a bad dream and these things couldn't possibly be happening... In yet another episode of social indifference and presidential irresponsibility, president Bush has vetoed a bill that would would have helped fund health care for poor children by imposing a 61 cent tax per cigarette pack -the same cigarettes that, in many cases, are probably what's making some of these children sick to begin with...

By itself the move might not actually be that bad (if there were some sound logic behind it), but when you start asking for the reasons that justify this decision, you're left wishing someone would just start cutting off your fingers to distract you from the mental pain of bad, circular logic...
